It is flexible and depends on the type of performance we are doing. We have done performances in very tight spaces, but it limits what equipment we are able to bring and what we are able to do. For a full-length stage show we generally prefer to have a performance are that is at least 24 feet wide and 16 feet deep with ceilings of at least 10 feet, but we can make almost any space work.
What equipment do I need to provide for the group?
In general, we provide our own equipment. In some instances when we are traveling it is easier and more cost-efficient for the client to provide lumber and materials for our knife-throwing target rather than paying to ship a full-size board. In this case, the materials are easily obtainable at any hardware store and relatively inexpensive.
Do I need to provide an audio system?
Our basic requirements are that we need to be seen and heard. Depending on the situation, the audience, and the size of the venue, amplification may be necessary. We can provide our own mics and receivers to be plugged into an existing or rented AV set-up. If necessary, we can bring a small-scale audio system with and amp and speakers, but there may be an additional charge.
How long do you need to prepare and set up?
It depends on the nature of the show and the equipment we have to bring, but in general our set-up and sound check can be completed in 15-30 minutes depending on the needs of the venue.
What do I need to provide for food, travel, and lodging?
If we are traveling for your event, we typically ask for any airfare, hotel, and ground transportation/parking to be covered. We cover our own meals in most instances.
Can the performance be outside?
Yes, provided the situation is conducive to a performance. If we are in a controlled environment with a captive audience (a temporary stage with sound and a captive audience) it’s great. If we’re performing in a busy intersection with no space or on a barge in a thunderstorm, it’s terrible.
What dress code can I expect?
We will dress as is appropriate for your event. Because of the physical nature of our performances, we will need to be able to move.
Is there an additional charge for customizing the performance?
All costs are laid out ahead of time so there are no surprises. For the most part, all our performances are customized to some extent. The resulting cost is all tied to the expenses of equipment and labor. So, if you want a full-blown theatrical production that is scripted around an explanation of quantum mechanics illustrated through juggling and knife throwing with specific jokes that only the people in the audience will get, that will cost more than a show where we just show up and perform a show of existing material.
How long will the performance be?
Do I need to provide parking?
Yes. We also will need to know the specifics of loading in and loading out for your venue.
How far in advance should I book?
As far as possible, but we understand that sometimes there is a shorter prep time for some events. Basically, it all comes down to availability. The longer you wait, the less likely we are to be available—especially if your event is in our busy months of August through December.
